Southend Children and Young People's Plan

The plan reflects the Council’s intentions, along with its partners, to secure further improvement across all five outcomes enshrined in the Children Act 2004 – being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being.

The Children Act 2004 envisaged a ‘single overarching plan for all services for children and young people’ from April 2006. In producing this first plan we wanted to ensure that our current work was translated into an interim plan leading up to 2006.

Our thanks go to staff of the Council, schools and our partner agencies, who have already done much to make a difference for children and young people in Southend, and who have actively worked together to develop this plan.

Through the joint implementation of this plan, we look forward to making sure that every child does matter, and that we make even more of a difference over the next year!
