2007 Bicentenary Celebration:

Abolition of Slave Trade

Introduction

Resources for Teachers

These seven fact sheets have been produced to support you celebrate the Bicentenary Celebrations of the Abolition of the Slave Trade. These resources, originate from ‘Out of the Box IV’ resources for Black History Month October 2007. They can and should be adapted to the particular year groups within your school. They include copies of the charcoal etchings from the famous African American artist Tom Feelings. ©

I have ensured, where ever possible that sources have been acknowledged.

I hope you find these resources useful. We would appreciate any feedback and examples of how your school has engaged with this Bicentenary.

There will be an opportunity to display your school’s work on the Slave Trade abolition. If you would like to contribute to the exhibition during October 2007, please e mail johnubsdell@southend.gov.uk

Yours sincerely,

John Ubsdell

Senior Curriculum Adviser
